2009-2010

Greetings! As a member of NAEOP you are also a member of your job-related council. If you work in a Middle School or Junior High this is the page for you! This is the webpage for the Middle School/Junior High Council located on the NAEOP Web site and we hope it gives you the information you need to interest you in becoming involved in the National Association of Educational Office Professionals and the Middle School/Junior High Council. When you become involved, you reap the rewards from networking with fellow middle school/junior high educational office professionals; sharing frustrations, ideas and successes! All of the councils fall under the Membership Committee which is chaired this year by Allie Faye Matthews, CEOE, NAEOP Vice President.

MS/JR HIGH COUNCIL HISTORY

The Middle School/Junior High Council was formed in the late 1980's and it's original name was the "Secondary Council"; which included middle school, junior high, high school and vocational educational office professionals. In 1998-99 the Secondary Council was divided into two councils: High School/Vocational and Middle School/Junior High. Joanne Kinghorn was the first chairman of the new "Middle School/Junior High Council."

DID YOU KNOW?

• Upon joining NAEOP you automatically become a member of the Middle School/Junior High Council and will receive four council newsletters by e-mail during the year. If you have ideas or suggestions for an article contact Machel L. Salado, CEOE, Middle School/Junior High Council Chairman at the e-mail addresses listed below. As an essential piece of NAEOP, we want to connect with you and share with you all that NAEOP has to offer.

• At the NAEOP Annual Conference the members of the Middle School/Junior High Council join together for their own breakfast and program which is developed by your suggestions from the previous year’s breakfast. We hope that you will attend the 2010 council breakfast in Kansas City! If there is something special you would like as part of the program please contact Machel L. Salado, CEOE, Middle School/Junior High Council Chairman.

• There are Middle School/Junior High Council members in almost every state (listed below). Look for your state or one closest to you and contact Machel L. Salado, CEOE, Middle School/Junior High Council Chairman for more information.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?
• Volunteer to serve on the Middle School/Junior High Council Committee. Every quarter non-renewal membership lists are sent to the council chairman to contact regarding their lapsed NAEOP membership. The council contacts the members on the committee and sends them a few names to contact to remind them to renew their NAEOP membership. It takes very little time and is a valuable tool and resource for NAEOP.

• Write an article for the council newsletter. It is so helpful to see what other members across the country are doing and experiencing. Share your experiences, ideas and suggestions!

• Keep your membership information updated. This includes your home address and phone number, work phone and your home and/or work emails. So often we send emails (newsletters, etc.) to the council members and the mail comes back as undeliverable or not a valid address. Keeping this information updated helps you to receive information from NAEOP in a timely manner.

President Pam Posey’s theme for the 2009-2010 year is “Shining Brightly – Touching Lives Around the World.” We encourage you to connect with us and shine brightly as an essential piece of NAEOP. If you have any questions, requests or want more information on NAEOP, contact:

2009-2110 Middle School/Junior High Council Chairman
