South Central Area

sc areaWelcome to the website for the South Central Area representing the great states of Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas

It is my pleasure to be serving as your Area Director for the 2nd year and serving as chairman for the 2016-2017 Awards Committee. Be sure to read over the guidelines and submit your nominations for the Educational Administrator of the Year and the Olive T. Ritchie Office Professional of the Year. Watch your emails from me for updates on current events, deadlines, and changes within NAEOP and SCAEOP during the year.

Did you know you can become a paid member of the South Central Area Educational Office Professionals (SCAEOP) by completing a membership form and paying dues of only $10 per year? The South Central Area members at the summer conference area meeting decided in 2011 to become an affiliate of NAEOP and to do this, we would need to have a paid membership. By becoming an affiliate of NAEOP we now have a voice and a vote at the Advisory Council Meeting held during the summer conference. Also, starting for the 2017 summer conference, all paid SCAEOP members will be eligible to apply for the newly formed scholarship awarding a basic registration (banquets, briefings, institutes, etc. will be the responsibility of the member) for the 2017 Annual Conference. As a reminder, if you are a NAEOP member within Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma or Texas you are a member of the South Central Area.

President Wendy Heslink has chosen for her theme this year, “Learn, Inspire, Lead”. By being a NAEOP member you can Learn through networking opportunities, Webinars through the NAEOP website, quarterly NES Connector magazine, and conferences to name just a few. Inspire yourself and others to enhance your professional competencies with the Professional Standards Program (PSP) certification. And to Lead by recruiting your peers to join NAEOP to receive the same satisfaction you have of belonging to one of the greatest associations open to educational office professionals.

If you were not elected to a committee at the summer conference, the opportunity for a leadership role within NAEOP is still available. Committee members are still needed for the following committees by contacting President Heslink or the specific committee chair. This information can be found on the NAEOP website under About NAEOP>2016-17 Board:

  • Bylaws
  • Long Range Planning
  • Membership
  • Nominations & Elections
  • Professional Development
  • Professional Standards Program (PSP)

Remember, NAEOP members earn points by serving on a committee which can be used towards their PSP certification.

If you have any information from your local or state information on upcoming workshops, seminars or conferences please email me the information and I’ll include in my email messages to all SCAEOP members. And please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
